“Earthly Delights III” at the Library this Month

This month’s installment at the Bandon Library Art Gallery is titled “Earthly Delights III: Art of the Natural World” and features three very talented Oregon artists.   Crystal Landucci, Paula Reis, and Veneita Stender are showing pieces that reflect the natural world.

Crystal Landucci’s contributions to “Earthly Delights III” are in the form of jewelry made of semi-precious stones, feathers, antler tips shed by local deer, and unique found objects like nuts and bolts, charms, game tokens, and even teeth.   Ms. Landucci is mainly self-taught but has received some instruction from other Oregon artists.  She was a featured artist last summer at the Second Street Gallery, and her work is shown primarily there.

Paula Reis grew up in Brooklyn, NY but now lives in Oregon where she uses a camera as her medium.  Her photos in “Earthly Delights III” are, as are all of her pieces, focused on plants, mainly flowers.  She is a macro photographer and with her brilliant use of light and color, the viewer gets to see her flowers in an entirely new way.  Most of the flowers she photographs are grown in her own greenhouse and gardens.

Veneita Stender of North Bend spent her childhood in the Rocky Mountains which still serve as inspiration for the jewelry she creates.  Her metal and stone jewelry is displayed beautifully in the “Earthly Delights” show.  She has used a variety of forms in her pieces, but the leaf form is her trademark, and she tends to concentrate on copper.

There is still a week and a half to see “Earthly Delights III: Art of the Natural World” at the Bandon Library in the front hall, so don’t miss your opportunity.

The art in the Bandon Library lobby gallery is sponsored by the Bandon Library Friends and Family (BLFF) who make it their job to make our library excellent.  The shows last for one or two months and typically feature local artists.
